ABDN Women held its inaugural event yesterday at the O’Rourke Reid offices in Leeds City Centre on Wednesday 24th November which attracted 30 women to discuss what they want from a Woman’s network. The innovative format of the evening included a presentation about ABDN Women and then 3 group sessions discussing a range of topics and themes related to women from all backgrounds to gather ideas of what women really want.
As with all ABDN events, there was a focus on a diverse audience and this event was no different. The women attending came from a variety of backgrounds and many in differing circumstances making for very productive and interesting discussions. The range of women included those who were thinking of starting a business, currently working for an organisation, owning their own business or just wanting opportunities to meet like minded women.
Claire Morley-Jones, Director of ABDN Women said, “This event clearly demonstrated that a new Women’s Network which doesn’t just focus on a one size fits all approach is needed. ABDN Women will focus on supporting women from all backgrounds and it was clear that women wanted diversity and proper business support and we will offer this.”
Kal Mellor, Managing Director of Solar Design commented, “To join a women’s network, I need opportunities to learn from other women and more business support. From this event, it is evident that ABDN Women clearly are working towards creating a network that will offer this and more.”
There was also networking opportunities at the event and exhibitors included henna painting, health and beauty products, jewelry and clothing. |
