ABDN are proud to announce that Rt Hon Ed Miliband will be our keynote speaker at the 13th ABDN Annual Dinner and Business Awards on March 31st 2011, Royal Armouries, Savilies Hall, Leeds. Ed is currently the leader of the Labour party and fits our theme of “Aiming High” perfectly to inspire the audience on the the night.
Ed Miliband commented “I am delighted to have the opportunity to support the ABDN Network of Influence in recognising the achievements of local businesses at this event. It's great to see that there is a high level of entrepreneurial businesses in the Yorkshire region that are actively committed to driving the economy forward. The contribution of these organisations cannot be underestimated. It is therefore great to see that these companies have the support of a powerful network such as ABDN to help drive them further in their bid to aim even higher.
The event will no doubt celebrate the success generated from this dynamic regional economy as we approach the end of another challenging year. I am privileged to have been invited to speak at this inspirational business event.”
ABDN Executive Chairman Arshad Chaudhry commented “It is a great honour for Leeds and Yorkshire to have Ed Miliband gracing us with his presence. The economic landscape has changed considerably since our event last year, although technically out of the recession, businesses are struggling to survive. Support for small businesses has been swept away. We understand that in times of austerity we all need to tighten our belts but what we mustn’t do is to fail to nurture the shoots of recovery that will help Britain out of the malaise. Entrepreneurs from the BAME communities have shown over the year’s resilience and flair, attributes that can be harnessed in difficult times. Businesses need to continue to “Aim High” and look for opportunities.
I am delighted that Ed Miliband will be making a keynote speech at the ABDN Annual Dinner and Business Awards 2011 to inspire 850 influential business guests especially in these most difficult of economic times. His accomplishments in a short political career are befitting our theme of ‘Aiming High’ perfectly. ABDN are committed to inspiring enterprise through our Network of Influence and we are confident that our business community will rise to the occasion and thrive again.”
Ed follows in the line of other high profile speakers at previous Annual Dinner events including Alan Johnson, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, Imran Hakim, Lord Digby Jones and Julie Meyer. Our business speaker will be announced in the very near future.
The ABDN Annual Dinner and Business Awards is the biggest business extravaganza in the region. Our 2011 spectacular will have an inspirational ‘Aiming High’ theme running through the event, representing businesses and individuals that desire to reach new heights and strive for excellence whatever their background, objectives or ambitions. We will be welcoming 850 guests to a showcase of entertainment, inspiration, business awards and networking opportunities with the most diverse business audience in the region
