ABDN Chairman Arshad Chaudhry was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural Hamara Community Awards on Saturday 9th October.
This prestigious award was given to an individual deemed to have provided services to the community on a prolonged basis. Arshad has provided support to regional businesses and local communities for over 24 years and actively started when he helped create Chapletown & Harehills Enterprise Ltd, a Government funded body becoming Chairman. He moved on from that role and became one of the founders of ABDN and is still currently Chairman, a role that he held for the last 13 years inspiring enterprise and business support across West Yorkshire
Arshad expressed his gratitude saying “I’m very grateful to Hamara for bestowing this honour on me, an honour which many others deserve more than I do. I am simply trying to pay back a little of what I have received from life, the love of people, the respect of young people, the opportunities, I’ve had so much more, and I’d not be able to face my maker if I did not do justice to the life he gave me. Our measure of success must include the payback, the difference we have made to society, the smiles we have brought to faces. In the final reckoning this will weigh the balance.” |
