True to form, ABDN’s “out of the box” thinking is continuing to make an impact in the region. Reverberations of the most inspirational Annual Dinner in the North are bringing renewed interest from partners in the business community.
`ABDN 2009 – Annual Dinner and Business Awards` was a vibrant event packed to the rafters; 650 businesses, spicy entertainment and some inspirational speakers. We could not have asked for more. This was another landmark in ABDN’s history - the first event managed in-house, without an event management company. We launched the business matchmaking concept at the dinner with a bevy of university students who helped businesses meet their match. Some great businesses won the coveted awards, which were judged by the Leeds Chamber: Akbar’s, Mumtaz, Game Frontier to name a few. ABDN also honoured some of the community stalwarts for their services: Balbir Panesar, the Bradford Chamber President, Madan Showan of the former Empire Direct and the dynamic Usha Parmar of Sunrise Radio. ABDN are grateful to all sponsors: Business Link, Sharing the Success, Yorkshire Forward, Jaguar, IOD, Alea and UKTI for believing in us, and for staying the course in these troubled times. Going forward, ABDN has linked up with Yorkshire Business Insider to help enhance and profile Asian Business’ in the region. A series of round table conferences, a Powers List and much more is in the pipe line. Our relationship with PWC and Gordon’s LLP continues to prosper with joint events planned in the late summer. Two significant developments at ABDN will take the network to a new dimension. ABDN Women launches in late August and ABDN Sheffield welcomes South Yorkshire businesses in early October. We feel inspired about the exciting new developments at ABDN and I count on your continued support to enable us to take your business network to the next level. Arshad Chaudhry July 2009 |
