ABDN Yorkshire (Leeds), has been at the forefront of providing business support, mentoring and inspiring entrepreneurial activity for BME communities across Yorkshire for over a decade. Building on the success of the Yorkshire model, it was a natural progression to expand to other regions and ABDN North West was created to achieve similar objectives in what is considered a vibrant eclectic business region.

ABDN NW acts as a conduit to government support agencies and partner organisations to help engage with BME communities which can be hard to reach. We hope to achieve this by holding a series of seminars in the coming year on various business topics to tackle current issues SME businesses are facing in these tough economic times. Utilising existing partnerships ABDN Yorkshire have made and our existing business contacts in Manchester, we work in tandem with organisations such as Chambers of Commerce, Local Enterprise Partnerships and with sponsorship from Jaguar Cars UK.

We held our first Seminar event at on the 12th July 2011 at  Stratstone Jaguar Manchester. The topic for the evening was Social Media and we had a fantastic response from the attendees, who found the presentation "very useful...insightful...invaluable for any small business with a small marketing budget". Bruce Thomas of Modern English, delivered an excellent introduction to the world of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for businesses. The event was attended by a wide spectrum of delegates from different sectors and overall was a great success. A historic start to ABDN activities in the North West and we hope there are many more to come.
